5G Blog Series Part 3: How to Protect Yourself Against EMFs

Electric and magnetic fields, or EMFs, aren’t going away anytime soon. Despite research that demonstrates the negative health impacts of radiation, France’s insistence that Apple stop selling its iPhone 12 model due to above-threshold radiation levels, and even a recent class action lawsuit filed against Samsung and Apple over unrealistic radiation testing requirements, the reliance on technologies that emit radiation lives on. So what can a concerned (or unwell) person do right now?

As discussed in a previous post in this series on EMF awareness, advocacy and spreading information are smart things to do to drive positive change for the future. But here are some ways you can increase your wellbeing now.

Take Inventory and Take Action

Knowledge is power, so it’s beneficial to buy or borrow an EMF reader and scan your entire house. You may be surprised by the readings. For example, you probably expect your router to have high radiation levels, but is your digital alarm clock also concerning? If so, you could replace it with an analog one. Don’t want to measure the EMF levels yourself? You may be able to find an EMF testing company, such as Healthy House Chicago.

Limit Time, Distance, and Exposure

If you can’t replace something that produces radiation with an EMF-free equivalent item, the best thing to do is to limit time, distance, and exposure. So if you are heating something in a microwave, go into the other room. If you can put your phone on airplane mode sometimes, do so. You could also dedicate a room in your house to being EMF-free. In this space, you’ll want to ensure any Wi-fi routers, smart meters, and other devices, like Alexa or Siri are at least 20 feet away.

Move or Go Off the Grid

If you live in an area filled with cellular antennas and other forms of radiation and know they are impacting your health, you could move if circumstances allow. In the United States there are known EMF-free zones. Green Bank, West Virginia is one of them. Part of the United States’ National Radio Quiet Zone, its 13,000-square mile area has limited EMF radiation. Other safe havens (for the moment, at least) include Snowflake, Arizona; Grass Valley, California; and others. Even visiting one of these places for a week could help you feel better.

Ground Yourself

Hug a tree. Go to the woods. Go for a swim in a lake—or just walk along its shore. Being grounded is good for you. When you tap into earth’s natural electromagnetic wave, the 7.83hz frequency will refresh your body and counteract the negative effects of EMFs. Walk around barefoot if you can. Or try a grounding exercise. An easy one to do is to tap your cheekbones under your eyes for 30-60 seconds. This helps your energies move down your body and assist in grounding you.

Conduct Energy Exercises

To keep your energy balanced despite EMF exposure, conducting a daily energy exercise routine can help offset the negative effects of radiation. Chakra clearing can also be beneficial, since this energy system holds memories of everything we do, say, think, and feel.

Strengthening our vagal tone is also critical to improving our immune system and decreasing the inflammation that’s caused by EMF exposure. The peacemaker is an exercise that can benefit our vagus nerve.

Finally, eye strain, due to constant exposure to screens, can also be detrimental to your wellbeing. There are eye exercises you can do on a daily schedule, or when needed, to break up energy congestion in the eyes and bring in fresh energy.

Do a Liver Detox

As the National Institute of Health has reported, EMFs can have negative effects on the liver. In a 2014 study of mobile phone exposure conducted on rats, EMFs emitted from a mobile phone led to a significant increase in malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and a significant decrease in total antioxidant capacity (TAC) levels in brain, liver, and kidney tissues. A liver detox, if approved by a doctor, can increase its function and help you recover from EMF exposure.

Optimize Your Nitric Oxide Levels

Supporting nitric oxide production addresses EMF damage by decreasing oxidative stress in the body. To help optimize yours, you can take certain foods or supplements which naturally contain dietary nitrates, like beet juice. And you can also optimize how you breathe. Nose breathing increases nitric oxide levels, so try breathe through your nose, rather than your mouth.

Wear or Carry Crystals

EMFs do damage at the cellular level. Anything that can help with oxidative stress or free radicals, like crystals, will help. Shungite and Black tourmaline are especially effective crystals for travel because they add a protective boundary between you and unwanted energy and clears EMF smog away. Other helpful crystals for travel and everyday life include hematite, pyrite, and others.

Explore Product Protection

It’s beyond the scope of this blog to recommend where you should buy products and which ones specifically, but some you may want to consider (beyond the EMF reader) are radiation gloves, phone shields, and laptop pads. Shield Your Body is a good source of information on protective products and more. Essential oils, supplements, salt lamps, and air tube headphones (instead of Bluetooth) are also smart solutions.

Taking back some control through these actions can help us feel better—both figuratively and literally. Our lives have become about ease and convenience—but are smart watches and houses really the intelligent way to live a healthy life? That remains the question.

**Disclaimer – not all products, crystals, or devices marketed to protect against EMFs are created equal. It is suggested consumers do their due diligence when researching what products to purchase.
