        *Inserts themselves into others’ affairs

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, what was called the 5 elements, sometimes called rhythms or seasons were documented thousands of years ago as being what ruled our days, lives, and even society.  This amazing cycle can be seen in our 24-hour day, over a calendar year, or over the course of our lifetime.

We have all 5 elements in us but usually, there are one or two that determine our personalities, how we handle stress, and even how we get sick and heal.

The elements of Water, Wood, and Metal have already been profiled with accompanying video links on how to balance those particular elements energetically which can be found HERE on EnergyGirl’s YouTube channel. The last element of Fire will be profiled next month.

As with all of the elements, there is a healthy to unhealthy spectrum that exists. Our job is to find that happy middle space bringing in more of the best aspects and minimizing the not-so-pretty-ones.

And as with all elements, there are parts of the body and emotions that correspond to each. Earth represents Solstices and Equinoxes – those periods of time between seasons. It governs the Stomach and Spleen and also the Blood and Lymph system. This element is about metabolism both of food but also of life.

The positive emotions are Sympathy and Compassion while the negative emotions are Worry and Lack of Compassion, especially the Lack of Compassion towards Self.

Humans have celebrated these times between seasons for thousands of years with festivals, rituals, and songs. Ancient architecture for example, Stonehenge (England), Newgrange (Ireland), and Chichen Itza (Mexico) to name a few, were created with these times in mind celebrating Mother Earth – the ultimate caregiver, and the Sun – the great provider of life.

Earth types are caregivers. They give, give, and give to make everyone feel comfortable, fed, and cared for. You feel their love. Earths need to be loved and appreciated. If they don’t feel so they will worry and overthink to the point where they will deem themselves unlovable. Often times this means that they will insert themselves into situations to show others just how helpful and loving they can be – EVEN if it creates awkward moments or is offensive to the person they are ‘helping’. Have you ever had someone try to buy your affection?

Although Earths have great sympathy and compassion for others they very often have none for themselves.  The last person they think to give to is the person in the mirror – often feeling guilty for little self-indulgences or self-care activities. And just like Mother Earth when resources or energies are depleted burnout often occurs.

Anyone having physical issues involving digestion, blood disorders, or problems metabolizing (processing) life can benefit from balancing their Earth aspects.

For anyone who excessively worries, overthinks everything and lest we forget all of those that look after others over their own needs – this would be a great place to start.

In addition to the energy exercises in this month’s video for balancing Earth,

 – Create something – Get Crafty

 – Go gluten and dairy free for a month and see how you feel

 – Take a bath every night for a week

 – Bring more YELLOW into your wardrobe, accessories, and living space

 – Order takeout for yourself one night a week

 – Bring in artwork that features nature scenes or better yet, planet EARTH

 – Remove all belts, tight clothing, and shoes – anything restricting

 – Take up low-impact activities with a friend like walking or biking

 – Put your bare feet on the earth – grass, sand, anything that allows you to absorb all of the wonderful healing energy Mother Earth can feed you.

The GOLDEN RULE for Earths…

Do Unto Yourself That Which You Would Do Unto Others
