In Traditional Chinese Medicine, what was called the 5 elements, sometimes called rhythms or seasons, were documented thousands of years ago as being what ruled our days, lives, and even society. This amazing cycle can be seen in our 24-hour day, over a calendar year, or over the course of our lifetime.
We have all 5 elements in us but usually, there are one or two that determine our personalities, how we handle stress, and even how we get sick and heal.
Each element will be profiled in the coming months with accompanying video links on how to balance that particular element energetically which can be found on EnergyGirl’s YouTube channel.

As with all of the elements, there is a healthy to unhealthy spectrum that exists. Our job is to find that happy middle space bringing in more of the best aspects and minimizing the not-so-pretty-ones.
And as with all elements, there are respective parts of the body and emotions that correspond to each.
Water is the season of Winter. It governs the Kidneys and Bladder. The energy of Kidney also governs the Bones, Ears, and Teeth. Bladder energy also governs the Nervous System.
The positive emotions are Courage and Hope while the negative emotions are Fear, Futility, and even Shame.
This is the time of year when we move inward just as nature is doing with its bare trees regrouping and strengthening energies for the Spring. We contemplate the previous year and decide what we desire for the one in front of us.
Water comes in many forms.
**The stagnant pond (where we seem to be Stuck in life)
**Free-flowing rivers that move with Purpose.
**Raging oceans that have all the Courage in the world
**Frozen ice that is Paralyzing
Anyone having physical issues involving the kidneys or bladder – even things like impaired joint health, tinnitus, restless legs, Parkinson’s, or seizures can benefit from balancing their Water aspects.
For anyone with fears in life, phobias that prohibit them from moving, or anyone who desires more hope and courage in their lives – this would be a great place to start.
In addition to the energy exercises in this month’s video for balancing Water,
– Get one thing on your to-do list done (no matter how small)
– Stretch or do light movement exercises so you don’t stagnate
– Do something that makes your heart smile!
– Wear loose-fitting (flowing) clothes
– Bring something with water in it like a picture or fountain into your living space
– Go to the beach or take a boat ride
– Take more baths or go swimming
– Wear or bring in more colors of Water like the many shades of Blue
– Quiet the mind – meditate – listen to your intuition
and most of all HYDRATE!!
