How Distant Healing Brings Us Together
How Distant Healing Brings Us Together
You’ve dimmed the lights. You’ve dialed in. You’re lying on your back on a soft blanket. Your healer isn’t right there, but then again, she is. That’s how it can feel when energy medicine and Reiki are performed via distant healing. Whether a session is in person or virtual, the connection is the same—because no matter where we are, our beings are connected to each other—and to everything in the universe.
Quantum nonlocality was first introduced by Albert Einstein. Maybe you’ve heard of him. Back in 1935, Einstein and two collaborators, Boris Podolski and Nathan Rosen, wrote a paper discussing how an interaction binds two quantum objects into an infinite whole. And they also introduced the idea of instantaneous action-at-a-distance.
Einstein and his partners discovered quantum collapse can be infinite and yet not violate the theory of relativity because the possibility waves of the two correlated parts of a system are connected outside space and time. It is in this nonlocal consciousness that we experience ourselves as one with everyone else. When someone talks about nonlocality or infinite status, they are describing the ability of objects to instantaneously know about each other’s state, even when separated by distance. (I know this is a bit science-y but stick with me…)
Infinite consciousness is the very thing that allows us to choose health over disease. It allows us to heal ourselves from a disease. If we can develop the ability to transcend the ego and rise to unitive consciousness, healing happens—even from a distance.
In 1982 physicist Alain Aspect set out to verify quantum nonlocality. In a lab experiment, he found that correlated quantum objects can influence one another at a distance without exchanging signals—all because of their infinite quantum connection. However, a 1994 experiment from Jacobo Grinberg-Zylberbaum demonstrated that there must be the addition of message transfer for distant healing to work. In other words, the involvement of consciousness. There must be conscious intention involved in establishing and maintaining correlation between subjects, for example, between the person praying and the person prayed for in distant healing. No human observer has ever performed a quantum measurement without a brain. Consciousness creates both a subject and an object.
This dependent co-arising can be called a tangled hierarchy. But you can also understand it through the experience you have when you think about a long-lost friend, and then the next day you suddenly get an email from them. The power of prayer, meditation and group healings also demonstrate this entanglement principle. Because 80 percent of energy medicine is positive healing intention, its power heals whether that intention is channeled directly to the person in front of them, across town, or across the world. Many healers will use their client’s name, location, birthday or other client specific information to channel the energy of their client to their table where they then can perform their healing techniques.
In the same way, focusing on positive healing intention in a group mediation for world peace, or healing of the planet sends all that positive healing energy to the earth or to the other person or to the leaders in charge of creating peace.
So even though the pandemic may keep us physically apart, it’s never brought us closer to the realization that we are connected no matter who we are or where we live. So, go ahead, dim those lights, lie on a soft blanket or carpet, and dial in to your healer. Energy healing performed virtually and with intention could possibility be the best way for us to come together and heal in today’s otherwise socially distanced world.
