Being Grounded Is Good For You (Not The Grounding Of Your Childhood!)

Have you ever wondered why walking on the beach or hiking in the woods seems to take your cares away?  Have you ever met a stressed out gardener?  I know I haven’t. Connecting to the earth and pulling that earth energy into our bodies recharges our batteries. We are energetic beings and we need our batteries recharged often.

That third prong of the power plug on our appliances grounds that electrical device so it doesn’t shock us with extra stored energy.  Stored energy causes problems in our systems as well.  After all, our brains and hearts are very much electrical organs.  Grounding for us is a 2-way street. We exchange excess energy with the earth as we pull fresh, new earth energy into our bodies – out with the old and in with the new so to speak.

Some of the more common reasons we become ungrounded are wearing rubber and plastic-soled shoes, using electronic devices, living in concrete jungles and of course, air travel – where we lose our connection to the ground – quite literally.

The more time we spend on our screens, in our high-rises and in our Nike’s, or Merrell’s the faster our batteries get depleted.  And the more depleted our batteries are the more likely we are to get sick. Consider that if you have anxiety, feel disconnected from the world or in your relationships, struggle with balance or mobility, inflammation or chronic pain you may need to think about strengthening your earthly roots.

Grounding has never been more important now that 5G networks are infiltrating our lives.  Those electromagnetic frequencies (EMF’s) and radiation cut the threads that connect us to the ground weakening our ability to stay balanced, calm and heal. Not only can being grounded help counteract the negative effects of EMF’s but when you are grounded and balanced EMF’s just repel right off of you.

In my practice every session begins by ensuring the client is grounded because no amount of energy work will hold if they are not. The body simply cannot heal unless you’re grounded – it’s as simple as that.  Because it’s so easy to become detached from the earth with our lives as they are I share a few exercises to help you stay grounded at the end of this post. Although there are entire books written on the subject – these exercises are easy to learn. You can do them anywhere and they also help with other energetic healing.

I’m currently reading  Earthing – The most important health discovery ever! by Clint Ober, Stephen T. Sinatra M.D.and Martin Zucker.  It’s a fascinating read filled with much scientific data about the healing benefits of grounding, or earthing as the authors call it.  I’ve recently ordered a grounding mat for my bed and pillow cover to see how being consistently grounded for about 8 hours a night will change my life.  Although I try to maintain good energetic health and balance for myself I still live in a world where it’s difficult to escape EMF’s from technology, toxins in the environment, etc. to stay grounded throughout the day. And yes, I admit most of my shoes are rubber-soled and I live in Illinois where it’s not conducive to daily barefoot walks in the grass.  So I’ll keep you posted on how that all goes.

These techniques I do every day to help keep my own grounding may seem a bit out there to some of you but they are well worth trying.  The first one is to tap your cheekbones under your eyes.  Tap firmly on both sides for about 30-60 seconds. This helps your energies move down your body to assist in grounding you. For the second technique:

1) Begin by getting two stainless steel spoons.  They must be stainless steel (often indicated on the spoon).  Ensure the spoon attracts a magnet as not all stainless steel does.  One of them should be a tea spoon or smaller but the other can be as big as a serving spoon – it doesn’t matter. The spoons can also be the same size.

2) Massage the bottoms of your feet making sure you really work your thumbs into the middle of your soles.  This opens your feet up to receive that energy from the earth.  Feet can be bare or wearing socks.

3) If using spoons of different sizes, use the larger to rub the curved side of the spoon up and down the bottoms of both feet.  Spoon each foot for about 30 seconds.

4) Then take the smaller spoon, if there are different sizes, and again with the curved side rub the inside of your mouth.  Rub the spoon on the inside of your cheeks, gums, and tongue.  The whole thing should take less than 30 seconds. Keeping this spoon next to your toothbrush helps remind you to do this and it’s easier to not get this spoon confused with the one for your feet ;).

I would suggest doing these exercises every morning and night for a few weeks and see how you feel.  Please feel free to share your experiences here as well.

You actually make it seem so easy with your presentation but I
find this matter to be really something which I think I
would never understand. It seems too complex
and extremely broad for me. I am looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!
